Shot on Mamiya 645 Pro and Olympus OM-10
So it's been about a month since I was in Los Angeles and I'm JUST beginning to write about it. It's also November as I write this so I'm writing on behalf of the past two months. I wish I could say my lateness is because I've been meditating on my experience down there and waiting for the right words to come but that would only be partly true. The truth is I've been swamped. Since the day I left the 310 a lot has happened and changed in my life. I've been preoccupied by classes and a burn out that slowly crept up on me without notice, slamming me like a high schooler hits a Tik Tok dance (yuck). I've finished two short films (One I filmed within a mad dash of 24 hours. I also received my first ever festival selection! I began shooting 35mm instead of Medium Format and I'm probably going to stick with it. But really, I knew exactly what I had learned the second I left for home.
The plan was go to LA where I would be staying with my old roommate D'Andre who had been living in the backyard house of our friend Jacob. On the way I would pick up my other old housemate Irene, who is from Pasadena in LA, and drive down together. The big occasion was the 21st birthday of our friend A'Mia who lives in Atlanta and had flown west here to celebrate. After the first week, I would leave for a private Airbnb where I would stick out the rest of the week exploring the city more.
I had no idea what I was looking for in this trip. I was but the one thing I knew was that I'm done with expectations.

Nowadays I'm just trying to be happy and at peace with myself.
What's the next move?
